The History of Owners of the Elephant.

In the year 535 AD, Ibraheem, the Abyssinian, the governor of Yemen became independent of the Abyssinian empire. Ibraheem behaved like an emperor, ambitious expand the area of his country through the occupation of the lands of others. At that time there was a serious conflict between the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire. The Romans encouraged Ibraham to win their independence and strengthen their links with it. As for the Persians, supported the Christians who opposed the government of Ibraham, and also supported the Jews in Yemen. Jews supported the Abyssinians to occupy Yemen. They teased Dhu Nu'as to persecute Christians for Najjran thus the abssínios came and occupied the Yemen.

Al Qalees
Ibraham was supposed to be able to invade and dominate the Hijaz trade route, and then one could establish communication with the Roman Empire. The Romans encouraged him to accomplish this goal would strengthen his influence in neighboring areas of the Persian empire. So they sent preachers to spread Christianity in those areas. Ibraheem, the Abyssinian, intended to build the largest church in the region, because the Arabs wanted to stop performing the Hajj to the Kaaba and convert them to Christianity. When the largest church in the region was completed, Ibraham invited the Arabs to visit her, however, insisted on Arab trade caravans heading to the Holy Kaaba. Ibraheem, the Abyssinian, decided to destroy the Kaaba, then formed a large army and prepared a well tamed African elephant. Ibraheem took over the leadership of his army and left San'a. Some Arab tribes tried to prevent the advance of his army, but managed to defeat them Ibraheem, and so advanced towards Mecca to occupy it and destroy the Sacred House.

The Abyssinian army occupied all the land which he passed. When we approached Mecca, he found the camels of Abd Al-Muttalib bin Hashim and seized them. The people of Mecca heard the news of the military expedition, so that left the city and went to the top of the mountains. There was no person in the city as well as Abd Al-Muttalib, the grandfather of our Prophet Mohammad (SAW).

The Lord will protect His House

Abd Al-Muttalib, the guardian of Mecca, advised the people to leave the city to protect themselves from the Abyssinian soldiers. Abd Al Muttalib was an outstanding personality. It was he who dug the well of Zamzam in 540 A.D. So the people respected him and supported his leadership. Abd al-Muttalib went to the Kaaba and prayed to Allah, the Glorified, to protect your home, saying: "My Lord, the man defends his home, thus defending your! Man defends his home when he is attacked, then , My Lord, defend your home against the aggression of the Abyssinians. "

Abyssinian troops reached the limits of Mecca and broke camp there to prepare for the attack. Ibraheem asked a person: "Who is the leader of Mecca?" The person who said, "The leader is an old man named Abd al-Muttalib, who belongs to the children of Abraham." Ibraheem wanted to meet with Abd Al-Muttalib, so that a person ordered to come to him Himyar. The Himyari Abd Al-Muttalib came and said: "(The king said):" I have to commit war against you. I just have to destroy the Kaaba. If my soldiers not to resist, do not attack the people of Mecca. "Thus, Abd Al-Muttalib said:" We do not wish to fight against you, and we can not resist the Abyssinian army. "Then he pointed to the Kaaba and said: "This is the sacred house of God, and his friend Abraham. Only God has the power to defend his house. We do not have an army. "The Himyari said:" If you do not have the intention of waging war against us, then join me for the king wants to meet you. "Thus, Abd Al Muttalib went to Makkah and met with Ibraheem, the Abyssinian . Ibraheem sat on his royal throne in a tent covered with expensive carpets. When he saw Abd al Muttalib, rose and welcomed him warmly. So, what made him sit beside the throne and said to him: "Our sole objective is to destroy the Kaaba. "Ibraheem addressed the interpreter and said:" Abd Al-Muttalib Ask about what you want. "Abd Al-Muttalib said:" The army took possession of my two hundred camels, please order me to return. "When Ibraham heard the translation, Abd Al Muttalib looked amazed and said, "When I saw you, I respected it. When you have spoken it, I put away. Why ask me to return your camels and leave the house that you and your parents worship? "Abd Al-Muttalib looked at and Ibraheem said:" I defend my camels and my Lord defends his house! "Ibraheem said so mockingly," I I do not think he will. "Abd Al-Muttalib said with faith:" We shall see! "Ibraheem was upset to hear these words of Abd al Muttalib, then got up and closed the meeting. As Abd Al Muttalib, rose and returned to Kaaba. When he arrived at the gate of the holy house, grabbed the ring of it and shook it with force, cried and said, "My Lord, the man defends his home of aggression, therefore, defend your house against aggression!"

Attack

In the early hours of the morning, the Abyssinian army put the white elephant in front of him and advanced towards the Kaaba to destroy it. Ibraham stood watching in the hills where his army advancing against the Kaaba, the Arabs worshiped, to destroy it. Ibraheem had told his fighters, "Let the elephant shake the walls of the Kaaba and then to place it below with your hoes and spears." The people of Mecca stood on mountain tops and watched what was happening in the valley. They watched with sadness the House that Abraham had built. Abd Al Muttalib was sadder than them. The merchants of Mecca were also distressed, but feared for their personal interests, since Mecca was an important business center. Abdallah, son of Abd Al Mutallib, had gone to Syria and his wife left the house of Abd Al Mutallib. She was with the people of Mecca and thought of his blessed baby.

The Elephant disobeyed

When the elephant was near the Kaaba, he stopped and disobeyed the man who guided him. The man whipped the animal with his whip, but all attempts were futile, because the elephant was trying to retreat. Ibraheem, commander in chief, was impressed to see the elephant refuse to move against the Kaaba, then he shouted angrily. The elephant driver did everything he could to force the animal to move, but this did not follow even a step further.

Then something extraordinary happened. The elephant knelt. The task of the driver became very difficult. The elephant disobeyed the driver could not control it. If Ibraheem had had an atom of faith, he would have asked yourself, "Why did the elephant refuses to move against the Kaaba in spite of the harsh lashes?" However, Ibraheem was arrogant, did not think about anything but their own ambitions.

The horrific attack
Suddenly, something like dark clouds on the horizon. It was not clouds, flocks of birds were called Abábil carrying stones in their beaks burning. The birds hovered over the Abyssinian army attacked and with the stones. The birds are gone, and then other bands came and attacked the army, so that the soldiers were in chaos and fell to the ground like flies. Abd Al Mutallib watched what was happening, was full of humility and his eyes sparkled with faith. He said to himself: "Behold the power of God!" Ibraheem whipped his horse, but the birds followed him and attacked him with his red-hot stones. Ibraheem achieved its capital San'a, however, fell from his horse at the gates of the city. His eyes were paralyzed with terror.

Abd Al-Muttalib reached the Kaaba and peered around the area, which had become a battlefield covered with corpses burned.

The Birth of the Sun

Abd Al Mutallib gave the good tidings to the people of Mecca, saying, "God destroyed the attackers and saved the Kaaba." As he spoke to the people, one person came and announced the birth of a blessed child. The person said, "Amina gave birth to a boy." The face of Abu Al-Muttalib shone with happiness, for God had protected His Sacred House, Amina had given birth to a boy blessed.

Abd Al-Muttalib took his grandchild in his arms and said, "I gave him the name of Mohammad." People were surprised and asked, "Why did this to him that name?" Abd al-Muttalib replied: "I gave him this name because I want to be praised in heaven and on earth."

The Year of the Elephant

The people of Mecca returned to their homes and were very happy. Abd Al-Muttalib went to the Kaaba to cleanse it of impurities of the attackers. The news spread through the Arab tribes, and come to respect the Kaaba further. The people called that year "The Year of the Elephant." Our Prophet Mohammad (SAW) was born that year.

When our Prophet Muhammad (saw) was forty years old, the angel Gabriel descended from heaven and said to him the good news of the Message. Fiil Sura (Sura of the Elephant) is among the first suras and reminded the people of Mecca on the Year of the Elephant.

The Hanafis

Abd Al Muttalib believed in the religion of Hanafi, who was the religion of their patriarch Abraham, the friend of God. When Allah, the Glorified, has saved the Kaaba of the Abyssinians of aggression, the people met the high position of Abd al Muttalib before Him Abd Al-Muttalib asked not to idols that rescues the Kaaba, he prayed to Allah, the Glorified, that did. So Allah, the Glorified, answered the prayers of Abd Al-Muttalib and destroyed the attackers.

The Trade

Mecca became an important commercial center, the commercial caravans of Quraish went to Syria in summer and in winter to Yemen. The merchants of Quraish were safe from the assaults of the tribes, as all Arabs surrounded the Kaaba. When God, the Glorious, has appointed Mohammad (SAW) as a Prophet, He reminded the Quraish on their behalf in the salvation of the Kaaba of all aggression and destruction. He also reminded them of his support in securing the trade caravans from the assaults of the tribes, so God, the Exalted, says:

"By the agreement of Quraish, the agreement of the winter holidays and summer! Who worship the Lord of this House, which provides them against hunger and the safeguarding of fear!" (Quran C.106)

Today, the Kaaba became a symbol of the oneness of God and the unity of Muslims around the world. When we keep our daily prayers we should remember the Kaaba, the sacred house of God, the house built by Abraham and Ismail. We know that the Kaaba is the symbol of our strength and glory. The Kaaba is the pearl of Islam. The Kaaba is the heart of the Islamic world and Quibla of Muslims everywhere.

"Have you not seen what thy Lord did with the owners of the elephants? Doth not He smote their conspiracy, sent against them a flock of winged creatures, which they threw stones of baked clay and left them devastated and plantations (by cattle )? " (Quran C. 105)
