Avarice is disgrace; cowardice is a defect; poverty often disables an intelligent man from arguing his case; a poor man is a stranger in his own town; misfortune and helplessness are calamities; patience is a kind of bravery; to sever attachments with the wicked world is the greatest wealth; piety is the best weapon of defence.

O Eternal, thou shalt forget me forever? Even when will hide Thy face from me? Even when I have days filled with anguish and grief in my soul in my heart? Even when I overwhelm my enemies? Look at me, answer me, O Lord my God! Restores the light of my eyes lest I sleep the sleep of death, that is not my enemy say, "I won!" And my oppressors rejoice to see me fall. Always trust in Thy grace, my heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation, then sing songs to the Eternal I lavished benefits.
