 SYRIA

Photo: The Syrian army is now advancing against foreign-backed insurgents in several areas, the West and its regional allies are sending more weapons to insurgents via Turkey and Jordan in hopes of improving the insurgents’ military campaign before heading to the Geneva-2 conference. An American senator wants airstrikes against Syria while Russia says the insurgents possess chemical weapons. The West wants the fighting and bloodshed to continue inside Syria while sectarian strife spills cross borders to neighboring countries.
